Everyone should learn at least some basic first aid techniques. You never know when you might need them – you could be at home, at work, at school or on holiday.
Whether it’s a minor situation or something more serious, first aid knowledge will give you the confidence to act. You could be the difference between life and death, especially for your loved ones.
Why should you learn first aid?
Gain the knowledge, skills and confidence to act in an emergency.
Be a resource for your family, friends, work and community: we could be exposed to an emergency at any time in our lives. Whether it be your immediate family, people in your Section or the broader community of the Club, having more people with first aid skills helps to build a stronger and more resilient community.
Stay up to date with correct treatments: Over time first aid treatments change and unless used all the time, our memories and skills fade, so keeping up to date with your first aid certificates and refreshing your skills is vital. CPR should not be practiced on a person who is well.
Stay safe at work and play: Illness and injury can happen at any where, at any time. With first aid knowledge you can create a safe working environment and help meet Occupational Health & Safety requirements.
Anyone can learn first aid: no matter what your background or skill level is, you can learn first aid. First aid is a skill for every single person to acquire.
You could be the difference between life and death, especially for a loved one.
Ask yourself a question:’If my friend collapsed just now, would I know what to do to help him?’
The answer is usually no.
By learning First Aid & CPR, you WILL know what to do in an emergency.
