Sam Kan – our speaker.

Mini Theatre, Level 4 Tower Block
1 April 2017 – 9am to 5pm

DO YOU EVER FEEL STIFF OR SUFFER FROM MUSCLE ACHES AFTER SWIMMING? Is your training heavy, repetitive, one-sided, or is it light? Do you also work out in the gym regularly? Then this is the workshop for you! Learn how to identify the areas of discomfort in your body and prevent injuries that may disrupt your training regimen.

HOW CAN YOU DO THAT? You need to start by stretching your muscles in a safe manner. When you exercise intensively, your muscles develop tightness and become shortened. By stretching a shortened muscle, you can change the way you move. Your body can then work in a more efficient way and you feel less fatigue, which results in lesser risk of injury. By identifying the key muscles to stretch, your body can be optimally balanced for training and competition.

To register for this event, please go below to our Google Form – closing date for registration 15 March 2017 – limit to Swimming Section members, 30 persons. If you register, but fail to turn up your account will be charged RM30.

Agenda
1. ACHES AND PAINS
• What are shortened muscles and lengthened muscles ?
• What is the physiology behind pain ?
2. ANATOMY AND PHYSIOLOGY

3. PRACTICAL DEMONSTRATION

Penang State Age Group – PASA 2017

53-pasa-official-results-2017

img_4637Our crazy  swim team did it again! We won the 53rd Penang State Age Group for the 6th year in the row – the Chief Minister Challenge Trophy for the most gold medals – 61 and the PASA President’s Challenge trophy for the most points – 1836.

This swim competition was held at Chinese Swimming Club over the weekend – 10, 11 and 12 February. It was an extremely exhausting weekend, but the swimmers did their best. They made every point count and every one contributed to the team’s overall success.

It was a close fight, but we did not give up in despair. On Sunday morning, after an exhausting two days, the team was confronted with the fact that Chinese Swimming Club (CSC) was ahead of us by almost 100 points and we tied for gold medals. Well, everyone took a deep breath and did not give up – we pushed ahead and made up for the lost points. We finished almost 100 points ahead overall – helped by some Meet Records, Penang State Group Records and a strong showing in the relays. Well done everyone!!

A big THANK YOU to our Coaches – Coach Heng, Lee Chek and Coach Liu; our swimmers; the Section Committee; the parents and supporters; and not least the Main Committee of our Club who have supported and helped us all the way. Without you, we would not have achieved this success.
